Capitalizing on great field position
The Broncos rank 25th in terms of average field position, as their average starting field position is 25.38 yards, not much better than a touchback.
The signing of Diontae Spencer was supposed to be that spark the team needed for the return game. While he hasn’t been bad, and in the words of Vic Fangio (regarding a lot of things), “I was hoping for more.”
Denver has had some fairly long drives this season. They rank eighth in the league in average time of possession, 2:55 minutes per drive.
Unfortunately, they have not had much success turning those long drives into touchdowns.
I think they will need to try and get Phillip Lindsay going as best they can. Come to think of it, do not rule out Royce Freeman.
Capitalizing on great field position also means that the passing game has to be up to par. Joe Flacco has had plenty of time to get the timing down between him and his pass catchers.
