The Denver Broncos got some good news on the injury suffered by cornerback De’Vante Bausby, who has been playing extremely well in 2019.

The Denver Broncos beat the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, but cornerback De’Vante Bausby suffered a very scary injury and had to be carted off the field and taken to a local hospital.

Bausby’s injury came in the very early goings of the second quarter on a short run by Chargers running back Austin Ekeler.

As Bausby came in to attempt a tackle, Broncos linebacker AJ Johnson also tried to get to Ekeler as fast as possible and ended up hitting Bausby with a scary amount of force.

After Bausby was taken to the hospital for tests, the Broncos confirmed he had motion in his extremities, which wasn’t apparent when he left the field of play, and PR guru Patrick Smyth updated the fan base after the game with yet another positive development.

The Google machine tells me that a cervical sprain can last 4-to-6 weeks, with more severe cases lasting longer. The Broncos have not given any sort of timeframe for Bausby’s return, but their injuries in the defensive backfield have piled up this season.

Most importantly, Bausby is going to be okay after suffering what appeared to be a devastating head injury.

There’s no ‘good’ type of injury and spinal injuries are some of the worst, but it is good that Bausby did not suffer a concussion on this play in addition to the cervical sprain.

Bausby was replaced by Isaac Yiadom, who picked up where he left off when he was benched, and not in a good way.

With Yiadom’s struggles and the only other backup corner on the roster being Davontae Harris, the Broncos could consider looking into some free agents this week ahead of their matchup with the Tennessee Titans.
