Shaq goes undrafted

I’ll be the first to admit, Elway has had made his fair share of mistakes.

He’s made some huge whiffs on draft picks (ahem, Paxton Lynch), and he’s managed to alienate almost every single Denver Broncos star at one point or another (although he usually mends the relationship at some point), but saying he is an idiot for letting Barrett go is just a terrible take. If anything, we should be applauding the man for finding, yet again, another gem in undrafted free agency.

Coming out of Colorado State University, Barrett was considered a late day-three prospect. He had the statistical production in college, but he didn’t have the traits typically sought after by NFL GMs.

Come draft time, EVERY SINGLE TEAM passed on him multiple times.

After the draft, the Denver Broncos swooped in and signed him, but cut him at the end of the preseason. Again, EVERY SINGLE TEAM passed on the opportunity to sign him then so he ended up on Denver’s practice squad for the majority of his rookie season.
