Shaq Barrett has had a broken out in Tampa, and many are using this to show Elway’s incompetence with the Denver Broncos, but they should be applauding him.
Former Denver Broncos linebacker Shaquil Barrett has had a monster of a season so far for the Tampa Bay Buccanneers after joining them in free agency.
Through four games, he has 9 sacks, 20 tackles, 1 interception, 2 passes defended, and 3 forced fumbles. For those keeping track at home, the 9 sacks are a career-high and a season-leading total (by 3 sacks), and it’s a large reason why the former Colorado State Ram is considered the early frontrunner for NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
With Barrett at the center of national attention for his surprise breakout season, some media members are using this as an opportunity to take a shot at Denver Broncos General Manager John Elway because he didn’t re-sign him to the team this offseason. Not only is this ridiculous, but isn’t Elway having a tough enough time this season with Denver off to an 0-4 start? Talk about kicking a guy while he’s down huh?
Well, Evan, even though you have terrible takes, I am here to explain to you exactly what led to Shaquil Barrett and why we should be looking at John Elway through a much different lens because of it.
