The downfall to the start of the Broncos’ season has many wondering if the Broncos should listen to offers for Von Miller. Here’s why they shouldn’t.

Many have already declared the 2019 Broncos’ season dead, and with reports surfacing that Emmanuel Sanders and Chris Harris Jr. may be dealt at some point this season, many look for the front office to blow the team up and start fresh. Much of the sports media world thinks that Denver should consider fielding calls and entertaining the thought of trading Von Miller at some point in this season as well.

While we don’t know what this season holds for Emmanuel Sanders, and if Chris Harris does not get dealt this season, he will more than likely become a free agent and be signing elsewhere; this is an unfortunately reality that much of Broncos Country has already accepted. If you listen to the Locked on Broncos podcast on the Locked On Podcast Network, you have likely heard LOB host Cody Roark’s and PO’s own Cameron Parker’s thoughts on the state of the team, and that it is time to accept that this team is in rebuild mode and not likely to be in win-now mode for at least a few years. I agree 100%.

While when in rebuild, star players tend to get let go or dealt, here are my reasons why Von Miller should not be going anywhere, especially this year.

1. If Von Miller is traded, the Broncos go from two star pass-rushers to zero

Bradley Chubb’s partial ACL tear last Sunday versus the Jaguars felt like it took all of the wind out of the sails of a sinking Broncos’ ship. Bradley Chubb looks to be the potential future of this Broncos’ defense, but as we know, he will no longer be available for this rest of the season.

This would be terrible timing to move Von Miller, as it would majorly compromise this Broncos’ front seven, and would almost eliminate any opportunities of getting to the QB.

2. Von Miller provides leadership and teaching opportunities to the younger guys

Von has already had plenty to teach Bradley Chubb, and simply playing alongside Von has upped Chubb’s game and made him an even better player.

Having just turned 30, he is far from old and is a perfect mentor for the younger defensive guys on this team. When his time is eventually up, having played alongside a future Hall of Famer will only better the younger guys.

3. Von Miller is still very powerful

The lack of sacks to begin this season is likely what have many riled up and ready to consider moving a guy like Von Miller. While Von Miller has just now got himself on the 2019 sack list, he is still very good, very strong and very fast.

Von typically has to go up against double and sometimes even triple-teams to keep him at bay. I do not believe Von is past his prime and still has a lot of productivity to give to the Broncos in his career.

Next. Elway should be applauded for finding Shaquil Barrett. dark

4. You don’t want to lose your franchise player

When the sun has set on Von Miller’s career (hopefully years from now), he will have built himself a strong case to head to Canton, possibly even as a first ballot. Von Miller has been one of the most elite pass rushers of his team and has the accolades to prove it (although still waiting for that DPOY recognition).

Von Miller has given his all to this team and will forever be one of the best players to play in Denver. This is not a guy you want to let go. We have seen the Raiders be mocked for trading a guy like Khalil Mack- this is not the side of history the Broncos want to be on.
