Stock Down
Broncos’ Run Defense
To put it simply, the Broncos could not have performed worse against the run. Leonard Fournette, who had not capped a 100 yard game since 2017, finished the day with 225 rush yards, a career high for Fournette, who has been inconsistent in his NFL stint thus far.
His day included an 81 yard play, which is probably when everyone in Broncos Country agreed that the wheels were about to fall off of the wagon. If you felt this way, you were absolutely right. Another alarming statistic came out of this particular play: it was the longest run play the Broncos had allowed at home in team history (per Andrew Mason).
With Melvin Gordon returning to the Chargers and Austin Ekeler finding success in his absence, the duo could become a two-headed monster that will scorch the Broncos if they cannot stop the run.
