After three games without a sack to start off the 2019 season, Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller finally has reached the 100-sack milestone.
It felt like an eternity, but Von Miller has gotten his 100th sack as a member of the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos are up over the Jacksonville Jaguars and that certainly has helped Miller’s chances of getting sacks. Denver is facing a rookie quarterback in Jacksonville’s Gardner Minshew, which is a bonus as well.
It seemed concerning that it took this long for anybody on the Denver Broncos defense to record a sack. How could an all-star player in Miller go without a sack this late in the season?
Well, no need to worry anymore, Broncos Country.
Miller has recorded ten-plus sacks in six of his eight seasons in the league, not including this year—his ninth year as a Denver Bronco. Overall, Miller now sits at 33rd in career sacks, tied with Andre Tippett. He needs 6.5 sacks to be in the top-20 overall.
I do not know why Miller—and ultimately the rest of the defense has seen a decrease in sacks and turnovers. I suppose it is due to the team trying to learn a new defense. It also does not help when they are behind.
Miller has shown clear frustration recently due to the losing streak and the fact that the team had had zero sacks this season. He recently spoke to the media for like ten seconds. Well, “spoke”. He did not take any questions.
The Broncos’ next three games are against the Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, and Kansas City Chiefs. There are sack opportunities in those games for sure.
Can the Denver Broncos get ahead in those games? If they can, expect to see them record more sacks. There is still plenty of time left in the season for the Broncos to get back on track.
