The Denver Broncos have a pretty lengthy injury report ahead of their game with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Here are game statuses for all injured players.
The Denver Broncos (0-3) are looking to get off of a losing streak that is stretching four weeks into last season, and they are going to have to do it with some big-name players possibly on the sideline with injuries.
The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2) are dealing with their own injury issues as well, including playing their third straight game completely without starting quarterback Nick Foles.
They are also dealing with the fact that cornerback Jalen Ramsey has an apparent back issue, is awaiting the birth of his next child, and wants a trade out of town.
The Broncos know they will be without offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James and cornerback Bryce Callahan, who have missed most of the 2019 season after signing big free agent contracts in the offseason.
James played 10 snaps before hurting his knee in the Broncos’ week one loss to the Raiders, and Callahan re-injured his foot during the team’s training camp practice at the stadium.
It was recently revealed that he will miss the next 4-6 weeks after trying a procedure to get his foot right to be able to play this season.
Here is the final injury report for both teams.
For the Broncos
DB Kareem Jackson
This is not a great injury for the Broncos right now. Especially with Bryce Callahan out, Kareem Jackson’s importance to this defense cannot be overstated.
He hurt himself against the Packers on a 40-yard touchdown play for Aaron Rodgers and Marquez Valdez-Scantling. So, add injury to the insult that was that play, which the Broncos also were offsides on.
Jackson has been one of the Broncos’ best defenders this season so far, and would be sorely missed if he is out. If he can’t go, the Broncos spent the week getting Duke Dawson up to speed for nickel duties.
LB Josey Jewell
The fact that Jewell was a “DNP” for the first two practices of the week and then a “LIMITED” for day three is a good indicator that he’s going to play through the issue he’s currently dealing with.
Last week against the Packers was our first look at the Broncos’ linebacker duo of Jewell and Todd Davis.
If Josey can’t play, it’ll be Corey Nelson.
DL Derek Wolfe
Wolfe was carted off the field last week, so seeing him play will be a miracle as it is. But the fact that he suffered an apparent high ankle sprain and is likely going to play in this one is the latest in a long line of evidence of how tough this guy is.
Wolfe was an absolute beast week two against the Bears.
If he can’t go, the Broncos will lean heavily on DeMarcus Walker.
FB Andy Janovich & LB Joe Jones
Janovich was a full participant in Friday’s practice. He was questionable last week as well, so that progression leads me to believe the Broncos will get him back on the field this week.
Jones is another question mark after being limited all week in practice, but if he can go, he’s one of the team’s best special teams players.
