Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe will be sidelined for a while but he said after Sunday’s loss that he is fine.

Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe went down with what looked like a serious injury to his leg on Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers. It turns out that it could potentially be pretty serious.

After the game, it was announced that the injury to Wolfe could keep him out of game action for a little while.

Wolfe had a boot on his foot after the injury.

Talk about adding injury to insult. The injury obviously being Wolfe’s ankle injury, and the insult being the Denver Broncos’ third straight loss to start off the 2019 regular season.

The Broncos pass rush has not gotten off to a good start this season. Through three games, the defense has not recorded a single sack nor interception in 2019. That marks the first time in franchise history that the team has gone three straight games without one of those stats.

The question now with Wolfe sidelined is, who will take his place? The answer: 2019 draft pick Dre’Mont Jones. The former Ohio State defensive lineman has played in all of the defensive line spots in college, so he has experience.

Jones was inactive for week one against the Oakland Raiders but was active week two against the Chicago Bears.

Mike Purcell was active week one in but inactive week two in favor of Jones.

I do not know what is going on with the Denver Broncos. Coming into the season, the expectation was that the defense would be able to stop opposing offenses. With a lack of pass rush and, ultimately, the lack of coverage success, the defense has obviously under performed.

The good news is that there are still thirteen games of the 2019 season left. Eventually the Broncos need to turn things around before it is too late. Wolfe’s absense could prove to be costly.

Next man up.
