Denver Broncos stock report after loss to Chicago
Garett Bolles, LT
Bolles is at the top of the stock-down list after giving up four holding penalties in a single game, causing much of Broncos Country to wonder when enough will be enough, and Bolles will lose his starting spot.
However, due to lack of depth on the Broncos offensive line, Bolles is the guy for now; he just needs to play better and recognized that in his post-game presser, where he promised to turn things around.
Time may be running out for Garett Bolles in Denver is he is not able to avoid penalties and continues to kill drives.
Von Miller, OLB
As we head into Week 3, Von Miller has yet to make his arrival into the 2019 regular season, along with the rest of the pass rush.
While I am not worried at this point about Von’s lack of productivity, the pass rush’s inability to get to the QB has made a huge difference thus far. Denver is known for its’ mean pass rush, yet the pass rush has played a very little factor so far.
Week 3 against Aaron Rodgers would be the perfect opportunity for Von Miller to make his 2019 debut and pick up sacks #99 and #100 on his career.
Broncos’ Third-Down Offense
Garett Bolles was not the only drive-killer in Sunday’s game. The Broncos’ offense on third down was just at 3/14 for converting, or just 21.43 percent.
This is an ugly statistic; if the Broncos had just been able to even convert once or twice more on third down, the game could have ended differently.
While the Broncos were perfect on 4th down (3/3), the third-down offense will need to improve to get more points on the board. Converting on third down creates a new set of downs and more opportunities for a successful drive, which the Broncos had few of.
