Staff Predictions: Part Two

Matty Mulls

The Broncos are no joke at home in September.

This will be a team that is motivated after dropping one to a division rival on national television on Monday night.  The Bears are getting an extra four days of rest on the Broncos here but it won’t matter.

Vic Fangio will have this team focused and ready to go.  This will just mean more to him as he will want to win one for him against his former team.  This game will  mean more to the Broncos as they are honoring late owner Pat Bowlen before kickoff.

It will be ugly.  Flacco won’t be efficient.  The running game will be stagnant.  I could see Brandon McManus kicking three field goals again in this one.  Denver might only score 16 points again this week but I think that will be enough.

Prediction: Broncos ride emotional high, outlast Bears in Mile High City, 16-10 Denver.

Andrew Wade

Both teams are coming off tough week one division losses, and neither offense looked that great. This will, without a doubt, be a defensive struggle, and if Bryce Callahan can go, that will give the edge to the Denver Broncos.

If Callahan is unable to go, I think Chicago’s running back at quarterback (i.e. Mitch Trubisky) can exploit a few weaknesses in Denver’s secondary, but if he is good to go, they’ll have a tough time moving the ball unless they are willing to feed the ball to David Montgomery more.

Regardless, Denver is much better at home than they are on the road, and I actually think Denver’s offense is slightly better than Chicago’s.

Prediction: Denver 17 – Chicago 10

Sayre Bedinger

The Bears and Broncos both looked bad in week one in some respects, and pretty good in others. The Broncos are one of the best teams in the NFL at winning home openers in recent history.

Although the Bears still have a really tough defense with a lot of the pieces from last year, I think the Broncos put together enough offense to win this one.

Prediction: Broncos win 27-20.
