Denver Broncos: Fantasy football week two advice
By Tylor Walden
Quarterback
Russell Wilson – I’m gonna start the QBs off with a low-owned bang! Russell Freaking Wilson smashes in spots like this. He might just win someone a million dollars in a game that has significant shootout potential.
Pittsburgh’s offense is a different beast when they are at home and Seattle couldn’t stop the Bengals a week ago. This one shoots out and Russell Wilson will make plays. He is best when he can improvise and open the game up.
Seattle will most likely have issues running the ball. If it’s a long day for Carson, it’s a beautiful day for Wilson owners.
Jared Goff – Drew Brees will be the contrarian pick of QB in this Rams/Saints game but Brees has huge home/road splits. This one is in Los Angeles so I downgrade Brees here. Jared Goff can go ham in this one at home.
Todd Gurley will be VERY low owned and a nice place to gain leverage if you are a risk taker but I’m erring on the side of Goff connecting for over 300 yards and three or more TDs in what could be the highest scoring game of the day.
Josh Allen – Who played absolutely awful at the QB position last week? Josh Allen. He had two interceptions and two fumbles but also finished with nearly 20 DraftKings points. That was a “floor” game but you could honestly see his ceiling in this one. Cole Beasley is in a good spot (if healthy) and John Brown looks to be a complete WR with plenty of volume.
Allen has weapons going against a Giant defense that Dak Prescott dominated last week. Josh Allen is a similar type of QB with better running chops. If New York can keep it close somehow, Allen is in for a big week.
Lamar Jackson – He was somewhat chalky last week and I didn’t have any of it. I don’t like overreacting to a one week sample size but we know that Miami is throwing in the towel already this season. Do you know who lead the NFL in pace in week one? The Arizona Cardinals.
Arizona is going to “pace up” their opponents all season and that just means more fantasy goodness for the other side. Lamar Jackson absolutely smashed last week and didn’t have to run. I’m not sure you have to pair him with anyone in your lineup but you don’t want to miss what is sure to be another good week from him. I will jump ship soon but this won’t be the week.
Ben Roethlisberger – Just as Drew Brees is a different player at home, Big Ben may be even moreso. The public might be completely off of him after that Sunday Night Football butt whooping the Steelers took from the defending champs.
The thing is, Andy Dalton torched these same Seahawks a week ago and now Big Ben is focused, angry, and at home. I like all of his pass catchers this week so fire them all up! Big Ben scores big points here.
