This was expected, at least in my opinion, that the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears would be in a defensive battle. After 30 minutes, that is proven true.

When you have two solid defenses facing off, expect it to be a low scoring game. After the first half of the second game of the season for both the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears, it looks like it will be one of those games.

Denver’s defense has become the bend but don’t break mentality. When the Chicago Bears would drive down the field, the defense would step up at big moments. Now, if the Broncos offense can respond and at least get some solid drives, it could help the defense.

Like we saw with the first team in the preseason, the Denver Broncos had a solid opening drive, but have not gotten a lot done since then. Joe Flacco completed his first ten passes in the game, which tied his personal best.

The running game has also looked pretty good so far. Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman are seeing some holes and able to execute them. But it seems when all is going well, the team has a play that sets them back.

One play in particular is Khalil Mack getting past Noah Fant to get the sack on Joe Flacco. Seeing Fant get beaten by Mack was not pretty.

Also, is there any chance we can get Trent Williams’ agent on the phone? Garett Bolles has been called for three holding penalties so far in this game, one of which was denied. Those two penalties are the 13th and 14th holding calls on Bolles since 2017. That is the most in the NFL.

What is it going to take to bench him? Perhaps signing a new left tackle will help. But who knows when that will happen. The Chicago Bears will get the football to start the second half. With the Broncos down 6-3, they will need to get something going and fast.
