The Denver Broncos lost to the Oakland Raiders in week one. Although it feels like nothing good happened, there was plenty to build on.

The Denver Broncos lost to the Oakland Raiders in week one.

Losing to the Raiders always leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth, and the fact that they have now beaten the Broncos twice in a row is absolutely sickening for everyone.

But the Broncos are breaking in a new coaching staff, new schemes offensively and defensively, and many new players. There should be expected bumps along the way, and with very little preseason action for the starters, the Broncos were still getting some kinks out in week one.

Although it’s possible this Denver team ends up being bad or average, I don’t think their identity as a team is limited to what we saw in week one.

That is the biggest danger in making snap judgments for week one teams. Although the Broncos are constructed differently, you can rest assured knowing teams like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Chicago, and others around the league (even some teams like Seattle who won their games) are disappointed with the way things went in week one.

Thankfully, the season is not over. The good news for the Broncos, despite dropping what appeared to be a ‘winnable’ game on their brutally difficult schedule, is that there are things to take from the Oakland game that were good.

That’s right, it’s probably going to come as a shock, but not everything was bad in this game, and there are some things the Broncos can build off of.

Let’s take a look at the positives from an otherwise disappointing week one loss.
