Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio will face his former team when the Chicago Bears come to town, but the coach downplayed the topic.

Usually when a player or coach squares off against their former team, there is a sense of revenge. Well, at least to the media. In the eyes of Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio, however, that is not the case.

Fangio was asked about the fact that the Chicago Bears were coming to town. Fangio, of course, was the Bears’ defensive coordinator prior to becoming the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos head coach downplayed the topic, and for very good reason.

Yes, the fact that his former team will be coming to town is a pretty big topic. Fangio has no time to continue to think about that. His job is to figure out a way to beat each week’s opponent. This week just happens to be the place he spent a couple of years as the defensive coordinator.

As he spent the last four seasons in Chicago, he has a very good idea of what players are there and their strengths, as well as their weaknesses. That should be an advantage for him.

Contrary to that thought, Fangio said the opposite on Tuesday. He figures that the Bears may have the advantage.

Regardless of who has the advantage—if anybody—the Denver Broncos will have a tough task on Sunday, especially when they have possession of the football.

The Broncos’ offense will go up against defensive players like Khalil Mack, Leonard Floyd, Kyle Fuller, etc.

With the week one loss to the Oakland Raiders, the Broncos need to prepare extra hard this week. The Raider game was a game that many expected Denver to win. With a new coaching staff, it is unfortunately safe to say that things will take some time to come together.
