3. Courtland Sutton’s coming out party

The biggest positive to take away from this game is undoubtedly the coming out party of Courtland Sutton, who showed tremendous growth in his game from a season ago.

Last year, it seemed like we weren’t getting any production out of Sutton unless he was getting a target 40 yards downfield. In this game, Sutton was working the deep middle of the field showing off his strong hands, improved route running, and much better yards after the catch.

Sutton finished with seven receptions for 120 yards, his first NFL game with over 100 receiving yards.

The first of many, hopefully.

Unfortunately, none of Sutton’s hard work resulted in a touchdown, but I don’t think that will be anything to worry about going forward. This guy’s going to be a star for a long time.

Sutton led the Broncos with eight targets and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him get at least that in every game. I am surprised he wasn’t targeted more in the team’s red zone opportunities, and the same could be said of Noah Fant.

The bottom line is, this guy looked like the alpha the Broncos drafted him to be. I can’t wait to see more.
