The Broncos acquired Joe Flacco to be the guy in the Mile High City, but there are some things that constitutes a successful season for the Super Bowl MVP.

Von Miller is not the only person on the team that has a Super Bowl MVP as part of his resume. The Denver Broncos new quarterback Joe Flacco is a former Super Bowl back when he broke Broncos Country hearts on the lob to Jacoby Jones in the playoffs.

In his career, Flacco has proven to be a winning quarterback. If you look at the games played with Flacco in Baltimore, he has on average won no less than eight games in his career. His winning record in Baltimore is close to 70 percent an astonishing achievement when you think the division he was a part of.

We mentioned the Flacco to Jones memory. Sorry Denver Broncos fans. However, here’s the good news. Over the course of his career with the Ravens, Flacco has a winning record of 96-67. This correlates to the 70 percent winning percentage. Flacco has proven to be a win football games in arguably the toughest and most unpredictable division in football.

The other area of a successful Flacco is the postseason. While Flacco has not shown up in the playoffs since 2014, his stats certainly are no slouch either. Flacco has a touchdown and interception line that’s 25 and 10. If you look deeper, the Broncos quarterback has 24 touchdowns and four interceptions from 2010-2014 with him missing the playoffs in 2013.

In order for Flacco to be successful this season, he must first be kept upright but offensive line. That’s number one that does not involve Flacco himself. However, when the pressure comes he cannot force throws into locations the ball should not be thrown. One of the biggest things that occurred with the offense last two seasons is flipping field position.

The Denver Broncos offense in general has to limit the turnovers for this to not happen all over again. If this does, it’ll put pressure on the defense like it has in years prior. If the Broncos are backed into a corner, they have a quarterback capable of putting the team on his back to win the game. Flacco has 18 fourth quarter comebacks and 24 game winning drives in his career.

Another area that can make Flacco is he does not have to pad stats. Expecting 4,000+ yards, 35+ touchdowns and 15 interceptions is too much. If Flacco manages the game without turnovers but pushes the ball downfield like he has shown in his career, then he will do fine.

Both Emmanuel Sanders and Courtland Sutton will be big helps in this regard. Sanders is healthy and we have seen what a relationship with a Super Bowl winning quarterback has been like in the past. Flacco and Sanders should be beautiful to watch in the season.

Denver does not need a flashy quarterback like a Patrick Mahomes or Baker Mayfield to get back to the postseason. All Denver needs is a player that is confident in a system geared to their strengths of utilizing the entire field. Players at running back, tight end and wide receiver will help. Flacco’s supporting cast must help him when pressure gets to the pocket. It will need to be a team and collective effort to win on offense each week.

Starting at quarterback with Joe Flacco, Denver has the tools for him to be successful.
