Denver Broncos: AFC West Week One Picks
Colts vs. Chargers (Part Two)

The Colts and Chargers meet in the opener of the 2019 season. As we all know, the Colts are without Andrew Luck as he retired two weeks ago, meaning the team will be starting Jacoby Brissett for the season opener. Could the Colts be in play for one of the quarterbacks in the 2020 draft? That remains to be seen.
For now, they have a tough task against a Chargers team who is seeing their Super Bowl window getting closer to closing. Having Melvin Gordon holding out does nothing to help them.
I think the Chargers have enough on offense to help themselves get the win. Especially since they will be playing at home.

Philip Rivers and the LA Chargers host the Andrew Luck-less Colts on Sunday. With Jacoby Brissett at the helm, the Colts are looking to prove they don’t need their now retired star quarterback to be a contender.
That being said, taking on the Chargers in week 1 is no easy task. As long as the Chargers have Rivers leading the team, they can beat anyone in the league.
Given the difference in experience among the two teams, I’m going to side with LAC on this game. I expect Philip to show everyone he’s still around, and ready to win.

At the beginning of this season, this matchup seemed like a fairly good one. However, Andrew Luck’s sudden retirement left the NFL world spinning and the Colts without their trusted QB1 since 2012, although sidelined by many injuries. Jacoby Brissett is now the man of the hour, with the NFL watching him to see if he can step into Andrew Luck’s shoes and lead the Colts to some success.
Over in Los Angeles, the Melvin Gordon drama is in full swing, with Gordon having received permission to request a trade. However, that is not looking to be dealt with until after the season, so it may be another year before we see Gordon in the backfield, wherever he lands, unless he chooses to end his sit out with the Chargers.
However, the Chargers can never be counted out with Phillip Rivers in charge, as he can always make things happen. Keenan Allen is a dangerous weapon for Rivers, and Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson look to share carries Week 1 in Gordon’s absence. Chargers should also remain consistent at defense, with guys like Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa.
My prediction: The Colts suffer some growing pains with Brissett Week 1, and the Chargers snag the victory.
