Colts vs. Chargers

Matty Mulls

Gone is Andrew Luck.  According to Vegas, also gone is the Colts chance to win this one on the road against the Philip Rivers-led, Melvin Gordon-less Chargers.

In the words of Lee Corso, “Not so fast my friend!”

Jacoby Brissett isn’t a world beater but he is highly competent.  There is talent galore still on that offense that is built around the offensive line that just one year ago ranked fourth in run blocking and second in pass protection according to football outsiders.

Colts shock the Chargers in the road upset.

Oooooh boy. Plenty of high-profile names won’t be in this one.

Andrew Luck? Retired. Melvin Gordon? Holding out for either a trade or a new contract from the Chargers. Derwin James? Out for a long time.

The upside for the Indianapolis Colts here is that there is not a ton of film on Jacoby Brissett for the Chargers to study. Can he connect with his top wideout in TY Hilton? Will the Colts be able to get the run game going even with Joey Bosa and Melvin Gordon on the other side?

Phillip Rivers will have to find a way to avoid getting hit by Darius Leonard and Justin Houston. That’s the key, in my opinion, for the Chargers to come away with a win.

I think the Chargers should come away with a win here. It might be close, but at the end of the day, the final scores does not matter.

Despite all of the humongous losses for both of these teams, I still think they will both be pretty tough.

The Colts obviously no longer have Andrew Luck. The Chargers won’t have Derwin James, Russell Okung, and Melvin Gordon for this game, and I don’t think that’s really going to matter.

The Chargers are deep enough to win this game and I think that’s what they’ll do.

Prediction: Chargers win
