Chiefs vs. Jaguars

Matty Mulls

Reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes gets a tough road test immediately upon the start of this NFL season.

The Jaguars defense should be hungry and talented enough to slow (but not completely stop) the Chiefs offense here.

Meanwhile, the Jacksonville offense should do work on the porous Kansas City defense thanks to Nick Foles and Leonard Fournette.

The Jaguars finally have a decent quarterback under center. They still have a solid runner in Leonard Fournette. On defense, they have a top cornerback in Jalen Ramsey, as well as a linebacker who they just paid in Myles Jack.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has proven that he can win, side-arm or not.

As Thursday night’s matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears showed, it could take teams to get up to speed in a real regular season football game.

I do not think that will be the case for the Chiefs though. They should come away with a fairly easy win in week one.

There may not be a more confident team in the NFL right now than the Jacksonville Jaguars. Perhaps their confidence is blind confidence, but they are going to be really good defensively and we always see weird stuff happen week one in the NFL.

I think most people assume the Chiefs are going to win this game easily, but I’m taking the Jaguars in an upset on their home field.

Prediction: Jaguars win
