The Denver Broncos are onto the Oakland Raiders, but what can we take away from their roster assembly to start the 2019 season?

The Denver Broncos put together their 53-man roster to open the season. They assembled a 10-man practice squad.

For at least the time being, the Broncos’ roster is set and there were some interesting twists and turns last weekend getting to that point.

The Broncos made a trade. They were active on waivers. They added someone in free agency. They made somewhat of a surprise cut getting rid of Kevin Hogan despite the injury to Drew Lock, who was supposed to be the team’s backup QB to open the season.

But now that the roster is set, we have some time to reflect. The Broncos play the last game of week one, after all.

What are the biggest question marks facing this team now? What are the team’s great strengths? What are some things you may not see looking at the roster on paper but are actually really important for this team?

In this post, we’re going to take a look at:

  • Offensive line ‘depth’?
  • Best edge group in the league?
  • The foundation class of the roster
  • What positions are deep?
  • The undrafted legacy

Let’s dive in and take a look through a few (five) major takeaways from the initial roster assembly for the Broncos — good and not so good — now that the roster has had time to marinate.
