Quick — what’s one area the Broncos have been really weak the last couple of years?

If you answered special teams punt and kickoff coverage, you are correct.

The Broncos’ special teams have been bad on their coverage units, and Corey Nelson can help there immediately.

He has consistently been a solid special teams player since coming into the league in 2014 as a seventh-round pick out of Oklahoma.

Nelson spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Broncos, where he helped them win a Super Bowl in the 2015 season.

With his most expansive role in 2016, Nelson racked up 61 total tackles. After he missed all but five games in 2017, Nelson signed on with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019.

Nelson is coming off of a strong preseason with the Buccaneers where he racked up eight tackles, six stops in the run game, and a sack.

We know what this guy brings to the table. We can only hope he’s gotten even better and more consistent.
