The Denver Broncos rounded out their 53-man roster by bringing in a bunch of new players. What do all of these guys bring to the table?

The Denver Broncos have finalized — for now — their 53-man roster heading into their week of preparation for the Oakland Raiders.

After setting the roster at 52 players on Saturday, the Broncos made a variety of roster moves on Sunday to get the team to 53 players, including making a huge splash on the waiver wire, claiming four players who were cut by other teams on Saturday.

Unfortunately, in order to open up roster spots for some of the new players, the Broncos had to cut some players and put others on injured reserve.

Let’s recap the moves before we dive into what each of the new guys brings to the table.

Claimed off of waivers

  • WR/PR Diontae Spencer (Steelers)
  • OL Corey Levin (Titans)
  • QB Brandon Allen (Rams)
  • FB/TE Andrew Beck (Patriots)

Signed as free agents

  • LB Corey Nelson (Buccaneers)
  • CB Davontae Harris (Bengals)

Re-signed

  • LB Keishawn Bierria

Players who were cut

  • WR/PR River Cracraft
  • OT Jake Rodgers
  • LB Josh Watson

Players going to injured reserve

  • QB Drew Lock
  • TE Jake Butt
  • RB Theo Riddick

All of that math adds up to 53, trust me. The Broncos had 52 players going into Sunday. They have added (or will soon add) seven, and they moved six off the active roster.

Seven roster additions (six guys out of house) is a lot for a post-roster cut total, one of the most I have seen since I’ve been covering the Broncos, but I love that John Elway and Vic Fangio are being proactive in finding ways to upgrade the roster.

Why not?

The Broncos’ depth has been questioned and rightly so as the team progressed through the preseason, but these moves — in my opinion, help make that depth a little bit better.

Let’s take a look through each one.
