Broncos waive Jamal Carter despite shortage at ILB

Todd Davis will be ready to go by week one, according to him. The rest of the inside linebackers have dealt with injuries left and right and it would have made sense to give a guy who wanted to help out a shot.

But the transition to the inside linebacker position might have been too quick of a turnaround for Jamal Carter to swing and he ended up not making the team. This was a guy who made the roster in 2017 as an undrafted free agent.

It was surprising to me because of the lack of depth. Joe Jones could be a candidate that ends up on short term injured reserve. That leaves just Davis, Josey Jewell, and Josh Watson as part of the inside linebacker group.

It will be interesting to see if the Broncos make any moves to get another inside linebacker.
