2. Safety Su’a Cravens cut

This move wasn’t entirely unexpected, but many of us didn’t want to see it happen.

It was just over a year ago that the Broncos completed what was probably about a month-long process, if not more, to trade for Cravens, who was with the Redskins to start his NFL career in 2016.

After taking 2017 to contemplate his football future, Cravens got his wish to get out of Washington and onto the Broncos’ roster.

The vision in essentially giving up a fourth-round pick and some draft positioning for Cravens was that he could be a matchup player for tight ends. Injuries and rust from his year off prevented that from happening his first year with the team.

Cravens had to make Vic Fangio’s team as a safety first, and as a guy who is much better playing in the box and attacking a short area, he struggled at times but made some plays.

They weren’t enough.

Cravens could be an ‘on-call’ type of player for the Broncos, but I’m guessing he will get picked up by another team first.

It’s really a shame things didn’t work out with him because his talent level was great coming out of USC.
