Halapoulivaati Vaitai, OL, Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t really in need of roughly $2.025 million in cap space right now, but they might not want to have to cut any of the linemen they like without getting something in return.

After starting some very important games for the Eagles at left tackle in 2017, Vaitai looked like a potential future replacement for Jason Peters until he wasn’t.

The former fifth-round pick out of TCU has proven capable of playing in the NFL at both tackle positions as well as inside at right guard.

The Broncos just so happen to need depth at pretty much every offensive position, and Vaitai can almost play them all.

He seems like he would be a better fit inside at guard, but if for any reason a guy like Ja’Wuan James or Garett Bolles would go down, Vaitai could probably hold down the fort.

Why would the Eagles trade him?

Well, they have Jason Peters healthy this year, and Andre Dillard waiting in the wings to be his heir apparent. They have Lane Johnson as a permanent fixture at right tackle, and they just made a move to sign tackle Brett Toth recently, and given the timing of that move, Toth seems like a player they would rather not subject to waivers.

They also have former seventh-round pick Jordan Mailata, although the former rugby star is currently day-to-day with a back injury.

The Broncos haven’t properly replaced Billy Turner who was a big depth piece for them last year and Vaitai could be that guy.
