Linebacker

Malik Reed (outside linebacker)

The Broncos’ impressive history of signing undrafted free agents who make the initial 53-man roster will continue on with Reed, whose preseason play was absolutely stellar and impressively consistent.

He had another pair of sacks in this game and head coach Vic Fangio declared after the game that the stud rookie out of Nevada made the team.

Reed has been outstanding, and hopefully he’ll get to show some of what he can do against the Raiders on Monday Night Football.

Josh Watson (inside linebacker)

Josh Watson has been impressing pretty much all offseason, and capped off his preseason work with a strong performance against the Cardinals in which he racked up four tackles and one tackle for loss.

He also had an impressive play in coverage, where he was actually in pretty good position against a tight end but was beat by a great throw from Brett Hundley. He dove to try to tackle the tight end he was covering, missed, immediately got up, sprinted downfield, caught up to him, and forced a fumble on the play, which was recovered by the Broncos.

With all of the injuries at inside linebacker for the Broncos, it wouldn’t surprise me if Watson — who had 13 total tackles in preseason play — made the team.
