Tight End

Jake Butt

The Broncos will be without Jake Butt again in their final preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Butt played against the Rams, but the pain in his knee flared up afterward and Vic Fangio said it’s possible the former fifth-round pick could ‘miss some time’.

That’s not exactly re-assuring given Butt’s history with knee injuries. Can the team afford to be patient?

There’s not much they can do with Butt from a roster standpoint other than initially put him on the 53-man, then put him on IR and have him sit for eight games.

Right now, with 10-15 roster spots up for grabs and so much changing around the league, that is a kind of flexibility the Broncos probably have since they’ll be scouring for other guys anyway.

Butt needs to fully heal if that can actually happen. He looked good in limited action against the Rams, so if he can play he should be on the team. But if he can’t play, it’s going to be tough to continually have to go through this cycle.
