Wide Receiver/Punt Returner

River Cracraft

I don’t think anyone has any question right now about the Broncos’ top five receivers.

  • Emmanuel Sanders
  • Courtland Sutton
  • DaeSean Hamilton
  • Tim Patrick
  • Juwann Winfree

Those guys are all making the team without question. The question behind them is first of all whether or not the Broncos keep someone at all, and then which guy is it going to be?

River Cracraft, for my money, is the current leader in the clubhouse. He can return punts which we haven’t seen Fred Brown do yet. He was on the team last year, which doesn’t exactly matter but he does have a relationship with wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni.

The Broncos also haven’t seen any real emergence from guys like Kelvin McKnight (at least not in the punt return department) or Trinity Benson. They’ve also not gotten that burst of juice from Brendan Langley, who has not been on punt returns at all this preseason.

It’s going to be on one of these guys to go out and force the Broncos’ hand in this game. That guy could be River Cracraft.
