Denver Broncos: Andrew Luck retirement impacts Week Eight
By Tylor Walden
With the sudden surprise out of Indianapolis on Saturday, the Denver Broncos will face the Indianapolis Colts without Andrew Luck in week eight.
The football world received quite the shock on Saturday night when it was announced that Andrew Luck would be hanging his cleats up after seven seasons in the league. The Denver Broncos know Luck really well with all of the games between the Broncos and Indianapolis Colts.
When the schedule was released in April, there was set to be another meeting between Luck and the Broncos in week eight of the 2019 season. With the former Indianapolis quarterback calling it a career, this impacts the entire AFC as a whole.
But how does this impact the Denver Broncos? There are plenty of ways that it can impact their season. First off, it could provide another win for the Broncos. And one extra win could make the difference in whether they make the playoffs or not.
Putting the playoffs in perspective, the Andrew Luck news could help Denver get into the playoffs depending on how deep the AFC field is in 2019. Going into the 2019 season, the Colts were one of the favorites to win the division or make the wild card.
If the Colts miss the playoffs all together, the Denver Broncos could sneak in there. It will all depend on how the other 14 teams in the AFC perform.
It truly is a shame that Andrew Luck decided to call it a career. But there are times where you have to listen to your heart, mind, and body. Having not played a full season since 2014, it made all the sense in the world to call it a career.
I hope that Andrew Luck has a wonderful life outside of football. Here is hoping that he will find peace in life outside of the National Football League. The 2019 season for the Denver Broncos should be interesting.
