Once again, the Denver Broncos saw a halftime lead in the 2019 preseason go down the drain as the team suffered their third straight loss.

They say that preseason games do not matter. It is just a chance for the teams to see the kind of talent that they have on the roster. Outside of the starters, it seems as if the Denver Broncos do not have any, except for a few players.

While the Denver Broncos second and third team did look a bit better from the last two games, the team did show some more problems. Behind the starting cornerbacks and a few others, I am concerned for everyone else. There were so many open receivers for the Los Angeles Rams on the field.

It certainly did not help when one of the first passes for the Rams of the game was a 51-yard pass down the sideline. It was the first of 323 yards of offense that the Rams had for the game. As for the Denver Broncos, the team could only muster 213 total yards.

Now, just because I have been focusing on the negatives does not mean that there were no positives of the game. And there were a few.

When it came to red zone defense, the Broncos looked good minus the fourth down pass that ended up becoming the game winner for the Rams. A nice play in the backfield by Justin Hollins and a great defensive play by Keishawn Bierra helped keep the game close.

Troy Fumagalli had a solid performance, recording 44 yards on five catches. One of the catches helped Denver inch closer to taking the lead in the fourth quarter. Jake Butt seemed to be comfortable in the limited action he had.

But it was a game where the Broncos could not stop the Rams offense when it mattered and when they went on offense, they could barely muster anything together. Hopefully the final preseason game against the Cardinals will provide some promise going into the 2019 regular season.
