The Denver Broncos have stuck with Jake Butt through some tough injuries, and Butt is going to get the chance to play against the LA Rams.

Alright Denver Broncos fans, do you have your Jake Butt jerseys ready for Saturday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams?

It’s time to break out your Butt apparel because according to Mike Klis, the former fifth-round pick at tight end will be playing for the first time since the Denver Broncos lost a tough road game to the Baltimore Ravens early last season.

Butt caught eight passes for 85 yards in the first three games of last season, and while his production seems minimal, he was well on his way to becoming the top tight end for the team. Losing him was pretty huge for the offense.

It’s hard not to be excited for Butt.

The Broncos drafted him in the fifth round in 2017, knowing full well that investment would take at least a year to reap any sort of harvest.

As Butt started to show out in OTAs and training camp, it became apparent that the Broncos’ investment was a wise one. Then he was injured in practice and missed all but three games last year.

Making his way back from yet another ACL injury, Butt was obviously discouraged and disheartened but believed in the process and made his way back to training camp seemingly at full health, or at least close to it.

He suffered some setbacks, and has been slowly working his way back since the middle of July. Now, he’s going to get to play in a preseason game, and I can’t wait to see what he can do.

Butt is one of the most well-liked guys in the locker room by coaches and teammates alike. He’s one of those kinds of guys who just ‘gets it’ and understands the work required to play at a high level in the NFL.

The former All-American out of Michigan has to prove he can stay healthy, but this is a huge step toward him reclaiming a 53-man roster spot and helping the Broncos’ offense against the Oakland Raiders in week one of the 2019 season.
