Juwann Winfree, wide receiver

It’s pretty rare when I have to look up a guy’s name in the Google machine during the NFL Draft to figure out who he is.

Unlike many Broncos fans, I am not a Colorado football fan (please don’t hate me), so I don’t follow the Buffs all that closely. Winfree flew under the radar as far as the NFL Draft is concerned but the Broncos saw fit to trade up for him in the sixth round.

He’s certainly looked better than your typical sixth-round draft pick so far.

Winfree has a couple of drops on plays I thought he should have made, but he also has some big catches and made a lot of big plays throughout training camp.

He quickly solidified a spot among the team’s top five wide receivers and has since fortified that spot with his routes, quickness, and strong hands overall.

With the rest of the preseason action they have available, I would love to see the Broncos unleash him on some deep plays downfield.
