De’Vante Bausby, cornerback
The Denver Broncos had a depleted cornerback room at one point last season when Justin Simmons had to move down from his safety position and help out at times.
Jamar Taylor was signed off the free agent scrap-heap. Bradley Roby was a mess.
It was a bad deal all-around for the Broncos especially with Chris Harris Jr. and Isaac Yiadom dealing with injuries late in the season.
As a move to add some depth this offseason, the team signed De’Vante Bausby, a guy who has played some regular season football, but not a ton, and felt like a classic bottom-of-the-roster guy who would never quite be good enough to play 16 games for you.
Well, through the first month of camp and preseason play, this guy is looking like he will be able to translate his AAF dominance over to the NFL.
Here’s a video breakdown I did of Bausby and some of the consistency he’s shown every single game, breaking up passes and getting the defense off the field on third down.
He nearly had a pick-six against the 49ers on Monday night and it’s only a matter of time before he does take one to the house.
