LB Alexander Johnson

Although at this point, the Broncos are not planning on starting their season without Todd Davis or Josey Jewell, there’s a chance whoever the top reserve at inside linebacker is could see significant action this season.

Right now, it’s Alexander Johnson.

The former Tennessee star has put together a strong offseason and was pointed out by head coach Vic Fangio as a player who has improved a lot and stood out. Fangio said he’s been pleased with Johnson’s progress this offseason, and I want to see more of the fruits of that progress in preseason play.

Johnson has the look of a traditional two-down thumper against the run. Can he develop into a strong coverage player?

That remains to be seen, but we know Johnson can rush the quarterback, blitz, and play the run.
