Is Jake Butt going to play in this game?

I don’t know for sure. I sort of doubt it based on the fact that the team just started easing him back into practice eight days ago, but at the same time, Butt kind of needs to get out there.

Head coach Vic Fangio said he didn’t necessarily think Butt would have to play in the preseason in order to make the team, but it certainly couldn’t hurt Butt’s case to show what he can do in game conditions in this offense.

The Broncos have had high hopes for Butt despite the fact that he was a former fifth-round pick. He was primed to take over as the number one tight end last year before an injury after the team’s third game (against the Ravens).

He’s such a good receiver that it would be a shame if things didn’t work out, but there’s a chance he could see some work in this game. We haven’t heard one way or another yet, but it hasn’t been ruled out.
