The fullback battle
George Aston
The undrafted rookie out of Pittsburgh is a traditional fullback if we’ve ever seen one, but that doesn’t mean all he can do is melt facemasks with bone-crushing hits.
Aston is a good short-yardage runner and a natural receiver out of the backfield with some decent speed and obviously power in the open field.
I want to see him paving the way for the running game as well as make a play or two as a receiver.
Troy Fumagalli (TE)
Fumagalli is a tight end by trade, but he’s going to get a shot to play some fullback and see if he can’t pull double duty come time for the regular season.
Fumagalli is a good blocker but blocking as a fullback is a lot different than blocking as an in-line tight end.
Still, the thought of the Broncos coming out in 21 personnel (2 running backs, 1 tight end) with Fumagalli as a receiving option out of the backfield is fascinating.
