Greg Mabin, cornerback

The Broncos are thin at the cornerback position beyond their top four players, and that’s if you have great confidence in De’Vante Bausby as a top reserve in 2019.

One player on the outside looking in at the 49ers’ 53-man roster right now is Greg Mabin, who played 13 games with one start in 2018. He bounced up and down off the 49ers’ practice squad throughout the season.

Mabin was an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Iowa, and played decent in just 163 snaps last season.

He’s still developing, but Mabin has zone coverage qualities and could thrive in the Broncos’ scheme coached by Vic Fangio and Ed Donatell.

Right now, there is no clear-cut option for the Broncos at the fifth cornerback position, and while they could simply wait to see if a guy like Mabin would hit waivers, they could ensure no one else gets him by trading for him.
