Denver Broncos: Possible San Francisco 49ers trade targets
Joshua Garnett, offensive guard
The 49ers drafted Garnett in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and have been disappointed with the return on that investment.
The Broncos, who drafted Paxton Lynch in the first round of the same draft, can relate.
Garnett is a former Stanford star who started 11 games his rookie season but was demoted and played in just seven games last year. I’m not suggesting the Broncos bring him in as a starter, but with just one year left on his rookie deal, perhaps Garnett could come into Denver’s system and thrive in a new city.
Sometimes that’s all a guy needs in the NFL. Just look at Billy Turner who thrived in Denver after looking like a bust in Miami.
Garnett could be the Broncos’ primary backup guard, and if recent history tells us anything, the Broncos will need help on the interior offensive line behind Ron Leary.
The Broncos are desperate for offensive line help and Garnett is only 25 with some upside.
