Emmanuel Sanders had ankle surgery during offseason
Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders revealed on Monday that he had ankle surgery during the offseason along with surgery on his ruptured Achilles.
The Denver Broncos have one tough wide receiver in Emmanuel Sanders.
Tightrope surgery, by definition is “a modification of human procedures used in ankle surgery. A device is surgically placed that stabilizes the CCL-deficient knee through bone tunnels drilled using smaller incisions.”
The news of this surgery caught me off guard after I did some research as to what went into the procedure. Having anything surgically placed into your body would feel extremely weird and probably even hurt to some degree.
Sanders also underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles’ tendon he suffered during a practice in December of 2018.
Honestly, the sudden release of this information is quite surprising. It is even more surprising, however, that we have seen Sanders participate in drills during practice and it looks as if he hasn’t even lost a step.
To have had not one but two surgeries to the legs (the tightrope surgery was actually not on the same leg as his Achilles injury), and to come back looking as if he hasn’t’ even lost a step—that is truly remarkable. It goes to show the toughness of him.
We have known about Sanders’ toughness throughout his time as a member of the Denver Broncos. He often was on the receiving end of vicious hits but got back up as if it was no big deal.
Sanders is expected to play at some point during the preseason to try to get into form for the 2019 regular season. It will be interesting to see how he does. Will the Broncos take it slow with him or are they confident enough that Sanders is good to go?
It won’t be long until we see Emmanuel Sanders catching passes from yet another new quarterback—this time Joe Flacco.
