The Denver Broncos’ 53-man roster is still not yet a settled matter. How will the team proceed after a number of injuries that will linger into the season?

Injuries are constantly affecting roster construction in the NFL, and the Denver Broncos are — unfortunately — no exception.

In the past couple of weeks, the Broncos have gotten some very unfortunate injury news, but also some news that could positively impact the final roster come time for Vic Fangio and his staff to make those decisions.

In recent weeks, a few injuries have given way to what will ultimately be some very tough calls. Here’s a look at those injuries that will specifically make assembling a 53-man roster difficult.

  • FB Andy Janovich (pectoral): 6-8 weeks
  • LB Joe Jones (triceps): 6-8 weeks
  • RB Theo Riddick (shoulder): 6-8 weeks

Those injuries, on the optimistic side, put the countdown on for these guys to be ready as soon as week 2-4 of the regular season.

So what are the Broncos going to do? Can they last possibly a month — or more — into the regular season without a fullback? Could a tight end do it? Is Devontae Booker’s job now safe?

Will there be three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster?

Will a surprise linebacker make the team?

Although the Broncos have had 16 official training camp practices and two preseason games, we might not be any closer to determining the answers to some of these pressing questions.

Let’s try anyway.
