Pat Bowlen is Finally Enshrined

Although this day came too late and brought lots of bittersweet feelings, what a day it was. Bowlen was presented by long-time Broncos trainer and friend, Steve “Greek” Antonopulos. Mr. B’s impressive statistics reminded everyone of why he was so deserving to receive this honor:

-333 wins (3rd most in NFL)

– 7 Super Bowl Appearances

– 3 Super Bowl Wins (XXXII, XXXIII, 50)

– 3 NFL MVP’s (John Elway, Terrell Davis, Peyton Manning)

In the video displayed in remembrance and honor of Pat, all of his children were given an opportunity to share their best football memories of their dad. Christianna Bowlen recalls giving the Super Bowl 50 trophy to her dad as the best moment in her life, as it was the first time he’d had something to feel happy about in a while. (Yes, let’s all cry together.)

The man who led the Broncos to win 71% of their home games in his tenure, an NFL best, finally got his day and his career came full circle as his bust was revealed on Saturday evening, an identical image to the man who donned the famous fur coat we all miss seeing so much. Six of the Bowlen children unveiled the bust and had one last group hug around their dad, to which Rich Eisen remarked that there were very few dry eyes in the room.

Prior to the revealing of the bust, Greek lovingly pointed his fingers to the sky and said “This one’s for you.”

And he was so right. A legend in life, and now in death has reached immortality.

This one’s for Pat.
