Louis Wright

Champ Bailey should not be the only Denver Broncos cornerback going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Louis Wright should also get that honor of joining him as the only two corners to play in Denver in Canton.

He was a five time Pro Bowler and a two time first team all pro. You can also add defensive back of the year in 1977. It was during that 1977 season that helped lead the Denver Broncos to their first ever Super Bowl appearance.

From his rookie season until his final season, he truly made some noise on the defensive side of the football.  Joe Collier, a coach of the Denver Broncos defense, had this to say about Louis Wright.

“They use a term today called shutdown cornerback. We didn’t have that term back then, but Louie Wright was a shutdown corner. He was a great run defender. He played the left side and in those days most teams were right handed and their running plays went to the left side.”

Having the numbers that he had in that day and age makes you wonder why he has yet to be enshrined in Canton. Hopefully, Wright will be in soon.
