Who will climb the depth chart?

I recently took a look at which positions on the depth chart that could change throughout the preseason. But how about after one week?

Obviously, the Denver Broncos have five preseason games to figure this out. There may not be anybody that stands out so much that they climb the depth chart after one week of exhibition games.

There are opportunities out there. Drew Lock, for instance, is listed as the third-string quarterback behind Flacco and Hogan. At some point, due to Hogan’s poor training camp showings, it is expected that Lock will surpass Hogan, and probably knock him off the official 53-man roster when it is all said and done.

That would leave the team with three quarterbacks, with fellow rookie Brett Rypien being the third-stringer. That is if they decide to keep three quarterbacks, which they may not. Denver would hope to sign Rypien to the practice squad, but would not want to lose him to another team. That may mean he stays on the active roster.

You also have to look at special teams. Will anybody stand out to take over those duties?

How will the tight end position shake up? There are question marks after Jeff Heuerman and Noah Fant. The Broncos will probably keep four tight ends on the roster. Will anybody show that they can do more than catch the football?

Maybe the answer is Austin Fort.
