1. Drew Lock makes his Denver debut

You would think Missouri product Drew Lock was a first-round quarterback given all the attention he has been receiving this offseason, but it’s honestly just a byproduct of Bronco Country’s angst and frustration towards the quarterback position since Peyton Manning retired. Us fans are desperate for an heir to the tradition of Hall of Fame quarterbacks that has been established in the Mile High City.

So far in training camp, the Lock experience has been up and down (as can be expected given he is a rookie), and Vic Fangio has been brutally honest about his development (a trademark of Fangio).

But Lock has been coming on as of late, and although he isn’t starting tomorrow evening, I fully expect him to get at least a quarter of live game action.

With doubt surrounding veteran quarterback Joe Flacco and whether or not he is actually the short-term answer at quarterback, the position battle for the number two spot is huge, and in my opinion, it’s Drew Locks for the taking.

Kevin Hogan is a guy who hasn’t done much in his career thus far. Drew Lock is a second-round draft pick. Meanwhile, Brett Rypien received the largest UDFA bonus ever handed out by Denver. All things equal, Hogan is the guy out. If Drew Lock can perform well in his first time out on the field, it could spell the end of Hogan’s time in Denver.
