Guys That Are Worth Looking at, but..

Cory Liuget

Cory Liuget was a standout with the Chargers until he tore his quad in 2018, and was eventually released. Liuget is still on the market, and may not be looking for a lucrative contract; he may just want his chance to play.

Liuget could make a good addition to this defense and would probably thrive in the system Fangio and Co. are incorporating.

But….

Liuget was suspended for PED usage in the beginning of 2018 and his reliability may come into question.

Darian Stewart

Darian Stewart would be one of the most reliable guys on this list the Broncos could bring in. The man has that nastiness that helped make the “No Fly Zone” as successful as it was, and the Broncos could definitely use some of that attitude back. He is another guy that may have been sent packing too soon; he could be a staple in the Fangio defense. With the Broncos unsure of just what they will have with Su’a Cravens yet, it would make sense to bring back Stewart, if even for just one more season.

But…

Stewart was likely moved on from in favor of moving forward with the younger guys in Simmons, Parks and Cravens. As much as the nostalgic parts of us may want another original of the “No Fly Zone” back, Fangio may be ready to move on from that era and create another history-making defense; this reunion just may not be in the cards.

Donald Penn

Donald Penn is easily one of the best tackles the NFL has seen recently and earned Pro Bowl accolades with the Raiders. The Raiders moved Penn to right tackle in 2018 in favor of rookie Kolton Miller, who was given the starting job at left tackle.

As we saw, Miller struggled, but Penn was released anyway. Donald Penn could be good competition for Garett Bolles, who has still not quite reached his full potential.

But…

Donald Penn is 36 years old and may be considering retirement. The Broncos would likely get another year out of him at most.
