Battle: Second starting linebacker

One starting inside linebacker spot is pretty much guaranteed to Todd Davis. The Denver Broncos saw a solid improvement from him in 2018 when it comes to tackling. He also showed his ability to get to the football with an interception returned for a touchdown against the Cardinals.

I fully expect Todd Davis to take over as the number one guy at the inside linebacker position. The question is who will be the Robin to Davis’ Batman?

In my opinion, the job is Josey Jewell’s for the taking. But it will all depend on how well he performs in his second year with the team. Behind Jewell are two inside linebackers who could be ready to take the next step towards impact performances. A.J. Johnson and Joseph Jones played more special teams than defense. But both have some solid potential to give the defense an added boost.

There is also the sixth round selection from last season in Keishawn Bierria who is looking to make a splash. While I believe Josey Jewell will win the spot, if there is any reason he slips up, any one of the three players I mentioned could swoop in and take the starting linebacker spot.

It will be up to Jewell to make sure he becomes the new Robin in the inside linebacker group for the Denver Broncos.
