Battle: Demarcus Walker vs. Dre’Mont Jones

Demarcus Walker’s time with the Denver Broncos has been quite a puzzling, head scratcher for the fans since he was drafted back in 2017. The second round draft pick that year has gone from defensive end, to edge rusher, and back to defensive end.

There has also been some questions about his playing time. Broncos Country has seen him on the game day inactive list for the longest time. No one is really sure why. And with former Ohio State Buckeye Dre’Mont Jones drafted by Denver this offseason, all the pressure falls on Walker’s shoulders.

This battle will be for the backup spot behind either Derek Wolfe or Adam Gotsis. This could very well be Demarcus Walker’s last shot to make an impression. He seems to be doing well in getting ready to fight for his spot on the roster.

Dre’Mont Jones might be one of the steals from the 2019 NFL Draft for the Denver Broncos. The guy will certainly give Walker a run for his money. If Vic Fangio sees more from Jones than Walker, I can see the third round draft pick taking Walker’s spot in front of him on the depth chart.
