10. Can Dre’Mont Jones start over Derek Wolfe? How about AJ Johnson over Josey Jewell?

Answered by: Graham Tiedtke

The thing with Denver Broncos rookie defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones is that he has the versatility to play anywhere across the defensive line. It would be a surprise to see Jones stick to one position on the line—unless, of course, he shines in a particular spot.

Defensive line is a position that typically requires a rotation of some sort throughout the course of a game. It has to do with the type of packages Vic Fangio and Ed Donatell cook up. It also has to do with the situation. Is it third-and-one? Is it third-and-12?

The Denver Broncos are going to put the right people on the field at the right time.

As for AJ Johnson starting over Josey Jewell at inside linebacker, don’t count on it. The plan, and hope, is that Jewell will be a starter at inside linebacker for the Broncos.

I am hopeful that Fangio will be able to put Jewell in position to hide the fact that he is not a fast linebacker. Maybe he will excel in other ways.

Predominantly Orange’s Andrew Wade predicted that Jewell would have 115 tackles as a starter at inside linebacker.

That would be absolutely amazing.
