3. Offensive playmakers

For a long time, the cupboard was bare offensively for the Broncos.

The 2016 offense featured — and I don’t just mean included, I mean featured — Trevor Siemian (currently a backup for the Jets), Devontae Booker (currently the Broncos’ third-string RB), Virgil Green (Chargers backup TE), and guys like Jordan Norwood (out of football), Jordan Taylor (fighting for a roster spot with the Vikings), AJ Derby (backup for Dolphins), and Bennie Fowler (backup for Giants) all getting 20 or more targets that season.

The 2017 group wasn’t much better.

Fowler was third on the team in targets that year.

The Broncos took the next two offseasons (2018-19) to completely overhaul their offensive weaponry.

Not only is Joe Flacco coming in to stabilize the QB position, but the Broncos signed a Pro Bowl running back in Phillip Lindsay, drafted another stud in Royce Freeman, and brought in playmakers at wide receiver and tight end including:

WR Courtland Sutton (2nd round, 2018)
WR DaeSean Hamilton (4th round, 2018)
WR Juwann Winfree (6th round, 2019)
TE Noah Fant (1st round, 2019)
TE Troy Fumagalli (5th round, 2018)

The Broncos also have seen players like Tim Patrick break out and Jake Butt is still a promising young player despite his injuries.

The Broncos have so much young talent at the skill positions, some combination of these players is bound to work.

Many expect Sutton and Hamilton will both break out this season, and Fant is one of the most exciting players in this year’s rookie class.

If the Broncos are going to make some noise in 2019, they are going to need these young playmakers to step up.
